Charging Poker Players for using a Room

Question:

The club is not allowed to make a profit from the game: does that mean charging for the provision of the room?

Answer:

1. Gaming which provides any income to a promoter or provider of facilities is prohibited, unless specially authorised.

2. However, in addition to a membership fee collected no more than quarterly from its members, a club can charge 60 pence per person per day. Therefore a club can collect some of the cost of providing the facilities for the game to their members.
