A new P5 poker engine will be showcased at the European i-Gaming Congress and Expo which takes place in Barcelona from 23-25 September, 2008. The new P5 poker engine, from Ongame Network Ltd, is the first ever to be designed specifically for online poker.
For those of you who don’t keep track of the various organisations that make online gaming possible, Ongame Network Ltd is a subsidiary of bwin Interactive Entertainment AG, a company based in Vienna which just happens to be the biggest gaming company in the world.
Right now, online poker games are played using technology derived from non-poker gaming applications. The new P5 poker engine will, according to Ongame Network, change the way that online poker is played and experienced. It will also change the way online poker is perceived by the public at large.
“We decided to go to the very heart of our platform and rethink every line of code – and re-write it if necessary,” explained bwin Press Officer Kevin O’Neal. “P5 represents a shift in mentality as much as it represents a shift in technology. We are already very excited about what P5 enables us to – but this is nothing compared to what you will see in the months to come.”
It sounds exciting, and we can’t wait to discover the new P5 poker engine for ourselves. Online poker players who want to hang out at an Ongame Network site in the meantime should consider playing at PokerRoom and Coral Poker.
