Playboy Gaming is a site that combines two of our favourite words beginning with P - Playboy and poker - to create an entertaining and enjoyable online poker offering. Yes, we know that the name Playboy Gaming suggests that it's more of a casino site than a poker room, but right now poker is the only game available. This will undoubtedly change in the future, and Hold'em Blackjack is probably going to be the next game on the scene, but right now poker is where it's at.
When you've downloaded the software, launch it and create a new account. The whole process takes just a few minutes from start to finish (assuming a broadband connection for the download) and when you've logged in you'll see than you can choose to play a good variety of games. The main games on offer are Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo and 7 Card Stud. You can also play Heads-Up, at a Sit n Go tournament, or try your chances in a multi-table tournament. Stakes start at $0.15/0.25 and go all the way up to £100/200. If you want to get some practice in there is also a good selection of play money tables.
As you would expect from the Playboy brand, the bunny logo is everywhere here - on the poker tables, on the seat markers and even on the carpet. Whilst the graphics aren't dazzling, they are smart and functional, and we suspect they have been deliberately understated to keep the focus on the game itself. Our main criticism in this department is that everything seems a tad small, and this may put a slight strain on the eyes when playing for extended periods.
The poker experience here is very enjoyable. The software is simple to use and incorporates features such as statistical tracking, the ability make notes about opponents and, of course, to chat with them whilst playing. The dealer - a female, naturally - speaks with a British accent, and sound effects are appropriate, but perhaps a tad old-school, with beeps and bips mixed in among the sound of chips being tossed around the table.
Because it's a fairly new site, there aren't as may players here as we would have liked, but there are plenty of good promotions on offer which should soon see traffic shoot through the roof. These include generous sign up bonuses, Freeroll Thursday events and a loyalty scheme involving the collection of Bunny Money which can be exchanged for anything from a pack of Playboy playing cards to a real-life party at Hugh Hefner's very own Playboy Mansion. The site also offers a handy selection of Playboy wallpapers for your PC desktop, which is nice...
