Draw High Jacks Or Better

The rules for Draw High Poker presented in the previous section also apply to the Jacks Or Better variation of the game. However, the following specific rules also apply:

23.1 A player needs a pair of jacks or better to open. In the event that no player opens, the button progresses one player and all players ante once more. This process is repeated as necessary as long as the limit of antes has not been reached.

23.2 Should an opening player show false opening cards, his hand will be declared dead and any other active player may open. The opening bet from the dead hand remains in the pot, though later bets may be taken back if the round of action prior to the draw has not already ended.

23.3 Further to the previous rule, if no player declares the pot open, all players bets will be returned with the exception of the false opening bet. This will remain in the pot with the antes and all player involved in the hand will ante and play again.

23.4 The player who declares the pot open must show his opening cards before being able to win the pot.

23.5 If the opening player has a fouled hand, but a player has raised, the opening bet has been called by two or more others or all action before the draw is completed, the pot will be played.

23.6 The opening player may not withdraw any bets if action prior to the draw has been completed, regardless of whether or not there are any openers in the hand.

23.7 If necessary, the opener may be permitted to retrieve a mucked hand in order to prove it.

23.8 The opener must comply with any request to retain his hand in order to demonstrate it after pot has been won.

23.9 Openers can be split, but only if you announce this and set discarded cards to one side so that the dealer can check them when the hand is complete.

23.10 Further to the previous rule, if the dealer determines from the discarded cards that the opening player could not have had openers, that player will be disqualified from the pot.

23.11 If a player calls the opener's bet following the draw, that player will not have his bet returned if he cannot beat the openers.
