Poker Draw High Rules
Draw High Poker uses a button and an ante. It consists of two betting rounds - one taking place before the draw and the other after the draw.
- One bet and four raises are allowed in a game with multi-handed pots.
- Should an exposed card be dealt prior to the draw, that card must be retained.
- A hand consists of five cards. If any player other than the player on the button has less than five cards before anyone has acted, a misdeal will be declared. The button will be dealt a fifth card even if action has taken place.
- Further to the previous rule, if a player has already acted the player with less than five cards is permitted to draw extra cards to correct the error.
- Players are allowed to draw up to four cards. Any player who wants to draw five new cards will be dealt four of them at once and the fifth card will be dealt after the other players have drawn all of their cards.
- If a player wants to change the number of cards he has elected to draw, he may do so unless he has already been dealt cards from the deck or another player has already acted in light of his earlier declaration.
- If a player asks an opponent how many cards he has drawn and no action has been taken by any player after the draw, he must respond. The dealer is also obligated to respond.
- Further to the previous rule, if action has been taken by any player after the draw, no response from the player or dealer is necessary.
- A player cannot take an exposed card on the draw. Instead, the exposed card will be replaced after the draw has been completed.
- A player who raps on the table is signifying that he passes or does not want to draw any cards.
- Further to the previous rule, should a player rap a pass because he is unaware that the pot has been raised, his rapping may be ignored and he may act.
- A player may not change his seat between hands in a game with more than one ante.
- If a player only has enough chips for the full ante, they are permitted to play for the antes only.
- If a player has moved all-in to open and is playing for the antes only, players who call must make a full bet.
- If the joker is in play, players will be notified. The joker can be used as an ace or to complete a straight, flush or full house, but for no other purpose.
- Further to the previous rule, if a joker is used to complete a flush, the joker will represent the highest flush card not present in the hand.
- Because the joker can be used as an ace, the best hand is five aces.
