General Conduct of Poker Players

Welcome to our poker game. In order to participate in our game it is understood that you have read and agree to adhere to all of the poker rules set out here. You also agree that the organisers of the game will have the final say in how these poker rules are to be applied practically.

The organisers of this poker game will make every effort to ensure that players are comfortable and satisfied with the environment in which they play. However, they cannot be held accountable for the personal conduct of individual players. To ensure that all players behave in an appropriate manner, the following rules of general conduct apply to all players in all games:

  • Players will not cheat or attempt to cheat at any time. This includes attempting to collude with fellow players either verbally, by using visual signs or gestures or in any other manner.
  • Players will not use language which is considered inappropriate by this cardroom. Specifically, this includes any form of derogatory slang, obscene language or swearing.
  • Players will not threaten or abuse any other player, organiser or spectator in any way, either directly or indirectly.
  • Players will not be permitted to disrupt the game by raising their voice or by instigating or entering into arguments.
  • Players will not possess or use any illegal substance or offensive weapon whilst in the game environment.
  • Players will not mark, deface, bend or otherwise mishandle playing cards.
  • Players will respect the poker game environment, including all furnishings and items within that environment.

Poker Game Conduct of Poker Players

This cardroom believes that all players should adhere to the traditional rules of poker etiquette or poker game conduct. Failure to abide by these rules during a game will result in the guilty player being issued with a warning, or where a warning has already been given, in dismissal and barring from the cardroom, either temporarily or permanently.

  • Players will not knowingly act when it is not their turn to do so.
  • Players will keep their poker chips under control at all times.
  • Players will not deviate from their normal play strategy to assist another when a third has moved all in.
  • Players will not divulge the contents of any hand, whether live or folded, to any person, whether active in the pot or not, until all rounds of betting are complete.
  • Players will not unnecessarily hold up the game by taking an excessive amount of time to make decisions or by any other delaying tactics.
  • Players will release their cards politely across table, and not through the air or towards the dealer or any other player.
  • Players will not use mobile telephones whilst seated at the table.

Implementation of Poker Rules

  • The organisers will implement these poker rules in a way that is fair to players. In this respect the spirit of the law is just as valid as the letter of the law.
  • If a player notices anything which they believe goes against any of the rules herein, they should bring the matter to the awareness of the organiser immediately so that a swift and fair decision can be made.
  • No decision can be made about a pot once a new deal has started.
  • Should a pot be incorrectly assigned and this error reported before the start of a new deal, the pot shall be recreated by duplicating the betting before being redistributed properly.
  • In the event that an immediate decision cannot be reached, and to ensure that the game can continue, a pot may be temporarily withdrawn from the game quarantined until a decision is made.
  • Once an official decision concerning the implementation of a rule has been made, that decision will stand as final and is not open to negotiation.
  • Although they will at all times strive to apply rules fairly and accurately, the organisers cannot be held responsible for any errors that are made.
