Late Night Poker
Late Night Poker is a televised contest on Channel 4. A mixture of professional players and amateur enthusiasts play Texas Hold'em, for a top prize of £50,000 (in 2001 and 2002). During the game, cameras are fixed under a glass table, allowing viewers to see each of player's hand as the game goes on and to see who is bluffing and double-bluffing.
Each show features seven players who fight it out until there are only two left, with players being eliminated when they run out of chips. The two remaining players then battle until one has all the chips; the winner goes direct to the final, whilst the second placed player goes into the repechage or semi-final.
The final takes on a similar format but with increased chip allowances. As players are knocked out, that is their finishing position and determines how much money they really win.
